Medieval Vignettes is not a short story site. It is more of a "flashback" site. The scenes that appear here are based on characters from the medieval novels of Joyce DiPastena. And they are just that...scenes, or perhaps sometimes even bits of a scene. They may or may not all have a "beginning, middle and end". But they will each shed some light on the characters, their thoughts, their relationships to each other or to the environment around them...social, political, etc...outside the confines of my novels. These are mostly scenes "from the past" that are referenced in my novels, and may or may not be of any special significance to my novels' actual story lines. I've created this site "just for fun"...my own, and hopefully for my readers.
Those who have read my novels, will have the greatest context to understand these vignettes, but I hope others might enjoy them, too.
If you like what you read here, please leave a comment...feel free to be "anonymous" if you like. Just let me know if you'd be interested in reading more "medieval vignettes" in the future.
Joyce DiPastena fell in love with the Middle Ages when she first read Thomas B. Costain’s THE CONQUERING FAMILY in high school. A graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree specializing in medieval history, she is a multi-published, multi-award winning author. She specializes in sweet medieval romances heavily spiced with mystery and adventure.
Joyce lives in Arizona with her two cats, Clio and Glinka Rimsky-Korsokov
An agent of the English king trying to enforce the peace in 12th-century France finds himself caught in a murderous web of mayhem and madness. Torture, blackmail, murder, forbidden love, witchcraft—this historical tale has it all… a sure-fire page-turner. —Kirkus Discoveries
